The Grabber AT2 is General Tire’s On-/Off-Road All-Terrain light truck tire developed for pickup truck and sport utility vehicle drivers looking for exceptional traction over all terrains. The Grabber AT2 is designed to combine long wear and reliability with year-round competence on- and off-road in dry, wet and wintry conditions.

The Grabber AT2 features a chip- and tear-resistant tread compound molded into an aggressive, symmetric self-cleaning tread design featuring five rows of independent tread blocks to blend on-road handling with off-road traction. The tread blocks feature multiple traction edges and sipes, as well as are molded to accept optional metallic studs to increase wintry weather traction. Tread block sizes and shapes have been computer-optimized to allow the aggressive tread pattern to remain relatively quiet and even wearing during on-road and highway driving. The tire’s internal structure includes twin steel belts (some sizes reinforced with nylon) on top of a two-ply polyester cord body to combine strength and durability with a quiet ride.

NOTE: While many of the Grabber AT2 On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tires meet industry severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol, some do not. Specific tires/sizes not meeting the industry’s requirements are identified with a “Not Rated For Severe Snow” notation on Sizes & Prices, as well as on Specs. Grabber AT2 tires are designed to accept optional #13 metal studs to enhance ice traction.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

  1. My truck weighs nearly 8000 pounds with the load I carry day to day so I don’t expect tires to last forever. However, these tires seem to be lacking in traction, wet or dry, and so they slip on my steep driveway and other places one wouldn’t expect them to. As a result, the rear tires have worn out in only 17k miles. I purchased these because I am constructing a home and wanted tires that would provide traction on the gravel driveway and dirt lot (which is like moon dust when dry and turns to mud quickly when wet). Unfortunately, these tires never seemed to provide great traction, even on the gravel driveway. Because the slip on the gravel driveway, they chew the driveway up.I am, needless to say, very disappointed.

  2. I have somewhere between 50-60,000 miles on them and they still have life left. I will be buying them again!

  3. Have put 55k miles on this set of tires on my F150. Lived down 2 miles of gravel for first two years I owned them. Handled the county road just fine. They do throw rocks though. They have performed as well if not better than any AT tire I’ve ever owned in mud and snow and do not have the howl of a dedicated mud tire. No issues when towing as I pull a tractor that when combined with the weight of implements and trailer comes out to around 7k pounds.I would definitely recommend these tires to anyone and will likely try the ATX for my next set since the AT2 is being phased out. General has earned my business with these tires.

  4. I have right at 72,000 miles on a set of A/T 2. They perform well on road as well as many types of wet clay, mud, and sand. I’ve only driven i. The snow a few times and they did well. With the mileage these tires provide, you couldnt ask for a better tire!

This tire performs flawlessly in mud, snow, ice, sand, gravel, trails…. oh, and pavement – everywhere I’ve ever been (often places that a more sane me would not have gone).I just put on my 5th set. Previous sets yielded the following mileage: 1. 62,556 2. 115,957 3. 120,809 4. 77,058 (the set I just replaced this morning) Not bad for a highly performing all-terrain tire. And tes, on the same truck: > 424k miles strong!I report, you decide.

  6. Tires were great up till I had 25K on them, then wet traction went away. Almost to the point of being dangerous, had to really be careful when roads would get slightly wet. And now at 33K, one of the tires is out of round and causes bad vibrations so I’m now shopping for new tires again. Shame, I think these tires would have went at least 50K based on tread wear. This is my fourth set of General brand tires and the first set that I’ve been dissatisfied with.
